I am going to sew kids shirts out of adult shirts.
I don’t know if anyone else has this problem, but after I have a shirt for a few years, it starts to shrink. I may be doing laundry all wrong, or something. I have two shirts that I wanted to fix.
Both of these shirts are from a few years ago from Old Navy.
The way I start the refashion, is cutting out the new size. I lay a shirt that fits my girl on top, and cut it out. I try and use as much as the original shirt as possible to cut down on edges I have to finish.
For example, I used the original neckline on this color block shirt.
On this color block shirt all I did was finish the shoulder seams, sleeves, and side seams.
On the flower shirt, I did a bit more to it. I kept the swing of the shirt, but I added a ruffle around the neck. With the drape of the fabric, it turned out so cute.
Here are a few pictures of the shirts in action, and of course she is playing in the dirt, which is her favorite pastime.
Would you try to sew kids shirts out of adult shirts? I would love to see the results!
